ROUND 2

Round two of the fall race series Kicked off Last week and with a few weeks off from the recap were back in action giving you highlights on all the racing that took place.

Entering into the first turn all drivers made it through clean. Randy G. would be able to make his way into fifth place coming around for the second lap but have some tough drivers to pass if he was looking to get the race win. Bj C. would also on his way to the front early passing both Chase T. and Tom D. Curtis O. a new driver to leagues would make a slight mistake entering the split and opt to the outside. Randy was smooth around the corner making an easy pass up the inside. Still early in the race we would jump back up to our leaders who were Mike J. and Mike M. already with a 2 second lead on the rest of the field. Bumper to bumper they came around with Mike J. unfazed by Mike M. presence. At the halfway mark Bj and Curtis O. were battling it out allowing Tom to close the gap and put the pressure on both of them looking for any little mistake to get around. As the laps would slowly be winding down Mike M. would start look for lines that would give him a passing opportunity on mike J. Mike M’s lines would come together being the only driver to turn a nineteen sec. lap time however this would not be enough to make the pass and they would finish in second. Meanwhile the battle between Curtis, Bj, and Tom would be heating up, as Bj would look to make a pass on the inside of the last corner. Entering the first one-eighty side-by-side Curtis had the inside. Bj held on the gas and was able to keep the inside showing Curtis a wheel entering the split. Curtis took the outside making an easy pass for Bj also allowing Tom to squeak by. Curtis would find the outside the next couple laps and allow Chase T and Philip to catch up. Chase would slide by on the inside at the finish with one lap to go and Curtis would again take the outside entering the split and Philip would make a last min pass for an extra pass. The top three would end as followed Mike J, Mike M, and Randy G coming all the way to third from a tenth place position on the start.

Entering into the second start it would be very clean. A few laps would go by until the action would start. Randy would make his way around Mike M. through the split and Bj would follow right behind. Mike would tuck right back in and follow for a couple laps before making the pass back carrying more speed around the last corner. Mike J and Randy would be not far ahead and randy would make a move to the inside at the split and tangle up with the top three. Bj would be the beneficiary of the crash and inherit the easy lead. Mike J would fall back into fifth place and try to gain back a few positions. Getting a good drive around the last turn he would be able to pull along side to Chase but not be able to make the pass. Mike would make his way past. Mike M would be in the number two position again and start setting up his pass with ten laps to go. Eight laps remaining he made the pass and makes it stick. A tuff first main event would make Philip start at the back but with only five laps remaining he would have made his way up into third and was clearly the fastest driver on the track. With Bj and Mike M the two drivers in front who are not new to running at the front of the pack would drive a wide line and hold Philip to strong drive into third. Mike M would take the win followed by Bj C.

That would wrap up round two of the fall race series and with some great battles tune into next weeks recap to relive all the battles right at home or make your way to Unser Wednesday night to be a part of all the great racing.

ROUND 6

Round six of the Rockstar winter league came up fast and many drivers were in the hunt for the top five positions in points. The ‘drop one round’ rule would mix things up slightly in the end, because many drivers showed up to all the rounds! The few who didn’t saw their dropped round accounted for heading into round six.

A main saw Ted M. starting on pole and leading the field into a clean start. Jereme W was at a slight disadvantage starting mid-pack and looking to chase down some of our fastest league drivers, a daunting task. However, he found himself in fifth five laps into it. Bj had Randy all over him and was forced to tighten up his lines the slightest bit blocking any look at the inside of corners. Coming up to the halfway mark, Ron W. started to fall back the slightest bit and was in a battle with James C. After driving side by side for almost a whole lap James would be able to get the drive coming around the finish line and hold him off entering the first one eighty. The battle between the two would allow Michael M. a new driver to leagues to catch up and get in the mix. Meanwhile, Bj and randy were still battling and allowed Jereme to catch up. They were bumper-to-bumper coming down to the second to last lap and would be approaching lapped traffic. These lapped drivers were in a battle of their own which would make it tuff for the leaders to find a fast way around. In the midst of all this action, a lot would happen. Jereme and Randy were both shut down for bumping, which allowed Ryan to slide by into third. Michael M, who started in last, would be able to find his way around Randy for fifth.

There were a few drivers warned for aggression on the track entering the second race. With valuable overall points on the line, it was key to have an extra set of eyes on the race. Therefore, we did not get great detail on the final A main to report here. The race started off with Michael M getting spun entering the first turn. Jereme would be looking to find his way around Ryan S and Bj early. He was able to make his way around Ryan but wasn’t able to shake him. Coming across the line at the end, Ted crossed out front with Jereme in second, and Bj in third.

The last round was full of battles and passes making it one of the more interesting rounds we have had to date. When the points were tallied and the round was dropped, the results reveiled Michael M in first with 481, followed by Bj in second with 470, and Randy in third with 465. Randy was only 2 points behind entering the last round and Bj was able to keep his calm under the pressure by making no mistakes. Rockstar would throw in some great prizes for the top three in points and everyone was stoked on the series!

Make sure to come in and get prepared for the next series which will kick off soon. Check our website, emails, Facebook, and Twitter for announcements. We are also excited to launch our all new Youth leagues! These will come complete with fundamentals courses happening before heats to help drivers better their times and to understand what works and what doesn’t on the track during competition.

The sixth and final round of the spring leagues kicked off this Wednesday and it was an eventful night. Many of the drivers are shooting for the chance to drive a rotax racing kart with our performance division. Points would be close and all come down to the nights finishes. The B main saw our points leader Scott R. in it for the final round due to a struggle in qualifying.

Scott would be the talk of the b main as he was gridded in eighth place for the start. Everyone made it through the start clean and saw the top four get a quick lead on the rest of the field. Bj C. started making passes quickly and was one of the drivers that pulled up next to Michael D. making the pass into third. A four-way battle made the front pack slow down a bit. Scott would be on the charge and at the half way mark, switching up his lines to make the passes on other drivers. By this point, Bj would be into first and have a nice little cushion. Scott caught the pack that was in front of him and was able to make smooth passes to get into second going into the first one-eighty. There wouldn’t be enough time to catch Bj. Coming to the finish Tom K. would be all over James C. but unable to make the pass. The top three would end with Bj. in first, Scott in second, and James in third. The second main had Scott starting right behind Bj. allowing him to put pressure on right away. Six laps into it, Scott would make the pass going into the split. Another battle that was continued into the second main was James and Toni. The battle would carry on well into the race with James able to hold everyone off allowing Derek B. to catch up. Derek was able to find his way around Toni with half the race remaining. James, still driving a great race, would drive slightly on the defensive side still maintaining his speed. Going into the second one-eighty Derek got slightly bumped and spun out leaving James with another gap that was needed. Coming down to the end they would catch back up and see James make a mistake in the last corner and loose two spots. Scott R would go 2-1 for the overall win hoping that would be enough points in the end.

A main wouldn’t see Jeremy Wall tonight. Being one of the front-runners in points, this mixed things up even more. Michael M. had a back of the pack start and would have his work cut out for him if he wanted to steal the championship away. It was a clean start with Greg W. passing John R. down the front straight then Philip S. around the finish line into first place. Chase T. would start in fifth and start making his passes starting with John into third. John would be able to keep the pace that chase was running looking to make a move back around him. With thirteen laps remaining, four drivers battled for second place. Ryan S. was locked into a battle with Brian C. and was able to make a pass with a better line around the finish line corner. Meanwhile Greg would be up front and extending his lead with his consistent driving. Michael M, the driver who would be looking to capitalize on Scott R’s misfortune, would be having a rough race in ninth place. With the laps winding down in the first main, the four drivers all battling for second would still be battling and trading positions. John would be trying to make the pass back on Matt A. but Chase would make a move on Philip at the split forcing him to the outside allowing Matt around as well. Coming across the finish it would end with Greg, Chase, and Matt on the podium. Into the second main event Michael would still be in ninth place trying to do everything he could to advance positions gaining well-needed points. Four laps into the race he would be able to make his way into fifth putting him into a group of five all battling for the second spot. Ryan would get a chance on Randy coming across the finish line and make the pass only to have Randy almost pass him back at the split. Battles would continue within the pack for over half the race, any driver making a slight mistake cost them multiple positions. Michael got around Matt at the split and would start catching Philip. Charging hard, he saw some of his fastest laps turning a few in the high 19 seconds. Once Michael caught Philip, he bumped him to make the pass. Michael, knowing the pass wasn’t clean, let him back around which allowed Ryan to close the gap and put more pressure on. He would try to make a move on Philip again but would be unsuccessful coming down on the last lap. Ryan saw an opportunity in the second one eighty and dove in hard trying make the pass on Michael. Michael had the inside on the last corner and was able to hold off Ryan across the checkered flag.

Wrapping up the league points would be a nail biter. Scott did the best he could do in the B main and Michael’s struggles in the first A main left everyone guessing while the points were tallied. After it was all said and done, the new champion would win it by a single point. Scott R. was able to squeak it out and be the new Unser Racing ROCKSTAR League Champion winning a day at the track driving a real race go-kart. Scott didn’t have an overall win and proved that consistency wins championships while Jeremy Wall ended in second and Michael M. in third. Both very close in points and sure to be back for the next leagues starting May 2nd with a new seven o’clock start time. If you haven’t made it out be sure to come earn your shot to be dubbed the Unser Racing ROCKSTAR League Champion.

This week, league qualifying was tough and saw some of the usual A main drivers spread out between mains with some even going into the C main. This could mix up points and make it an interesting night.

The C main had a clean start with James M. making moves quickly going from fourth place on the start to the lead by lap two. This would lead into a great battle between James M, Philip R., and James cook. The three of them drove bumper to bumper for four laps before James C. would try to make a move at the finish around Philip but was unable. Philip would make a move on the inside of the second one-eighty on James. This would cause him to drive wider then normal allowing James C. to follow through into second. Ryan S. would be making up time on the top three while they would be battling back and forth. Moving the battle back to third place. It would come down to the wire and with Ryan taking new lines trying to make a pass, Phillip S. would dive to the inside on the second one-eighty and make the pass going into the last lap. Main event two would have Ryan making the moves early. Passing both Philip S. and James M at the finish line. Philip would see Ryan go around James M. and try to do the same James would pick up on the line and not allow him by. With six laps to go Ryan caught up to James and put the pressure on. Again the battle would allow Philip S who turned the fastest lap to join the battle. James would drive slightly wide at the finish and allow Ryan to pull along side him. As they both were battling for the inside driving into each other Philip would make it three wide across the finish and pass them both on the outside. Ending with Philip R. in first, Philip S. into second, and Ryan into third.

B main number one would be a good start with Sean P. making a pass on Brian C. on the outside of the first one eighty but come into the second one eighty with to much speed and spin himself out. This would allow Brian to get around Toni K. only a few laps in. with the clean track ahead of him would be able to inch away each lap. BJ. C would be able to run some clean laps and start picking away at the gap between him and Toni. He would make the move after a couple laps of battling and leave Toni with another unwanted driver hot on his bumper. This would be Matt A. and with only two laps remaining he would look for a place to pass. He made one run at a pass coming up the checkered but would be a cart length back and not make it work. Main event two would see Brian starting on the pole after his earlier win but others looking to chase him down. Jacob U. the diver who spun early on race one would be putting the fast laps down in the high 19’s. The start finish line would be his spot to make passes. As he would pick drivers off one by one he would shave time of Brains lead. A tough pass would be to get around Toni and Matt quickly with only six laps to go but with a great line he would get around Matt at the finish and Toni going into the second one eighty. Everything would come down to the wire, as Jacob would catch Brian on the last lap. He would make a move with two corners to go and end up taking Brian out moving him back to fourth. Jacob would then slow down in the last corner waiting for Brian then crossed the line right behind him thus showing some of the great sportsman ship some drivers have.

A main saw a lot of mix up of drivers again this week with the randomization of the starting grid. Josh F. a new driver to the spring series would start on the pole. He would get a good start and be able to avoid any sort of mistake in the first turn. Scott R. and Randy G. would be right there putting on the pressure looking for any opening to get by. Just a little distance behind Michael M. and Jeremy W. would be racing bumper to bumper. Jeremy would be able to pull along side of Michael crossing the finish line carry more speed and make the pass on the outside of the first one eighty. Nine laps remaining Josh would be up front with Scott still all over him. Not fazed by the pressure Josh would turn the fastest lap of the race and 20.0. This would get him about a kart distance for the next 6 laps until Scott would be able to close the gap again and try and make a pass on the last lap last corner but would be just shy by a half a cart length. Going into the main event number two it would look to be a repeat. For the first five laps everyone would seem to follow and be in a single file line until they would start to group up and the action would begin. Jeremy W. in fourth place would be all over the bumper of Randy tapping the back of him around the track but not enough to earn a black flag. Eventually Jeremy would get just enough going into the split and Randy would try to squeeze to the inside and last second go to the outside and get into the barriers costing him a couple positions. Michael would be all over Jeremy as they went by and would soon make the pass on Jeremy. From here out the drivers would spread back out except the two front-runners Josh and Scott. These two would battle bumper to bumper but not make a pass leaving Josh to a back to back win which has only been done one other time before.

With only one round left, the points are tight and will most likely see a new champion. It’s still up for grabs and with the points as close as they are you can bet the last round will be the best one yet!

This week would start the second half of the league series and we start to see some development in the overall points. As mentioned last week, Jace would be back in points but would return this week. He was looking to drop week 3 and be back in the battle for the overall points. In the end, it was a close battle for the top five spots.

The C main would have seven drivers leaving more room on the track as well as better racing. John M. would start and look to pass quickly on Michael D. on the first lap but would be blocked. After two more laps he would be able to go to the lead entering the split while Michael took the outside. Derek B. would also make the move on the inside and quickly close the gap on Derek. This would turn into a good three-way battle very quickly. In the heat of the battle Toni would try to make the move on Derek bumping him and taking him out. He would earn a black flag loosing one position while depowered. This would put Derek to the back of the field and a lot of ground to make up in a short amount of time. He would make some great passes at the finish line moving through the pack, having speed that would make it look like drivers just moved out of his way. Back to back lap passes would be made at the finish line and with only one lap remaining he would catch the leader John M. with the pressure on he would again make the pass across the finish line and win by just Two hundredths of a second making four passes at the finish line on the last four laps. The second race wouldn’t see quite as much action. John M. would turn the fastest time by two tenths. Cody S would have a pretty good race as he would make the pass on John and hang with the quick driving of Derek until the last couple laps when Derek would gap him just a little to make it an easy finish of a one-one for him.

B main would start off clean and have Brian C. starting on the poll. Randy G. Last weeks winner of the A main would look to make the pass going into the second one eighty with a slight bump that was not enough to earn him a black-flag. Brian would hang right there for the next few laps and randy would take the outside of the split with seven laps to go allowing Brian to close the gap. Next lap around Randy would again take the outside letting Brian make an easy pass on the inside. Chase T. Jon R. and Sean P would have a good three-way battle for third going at one point going three wide across the finish line. Chase would be on the inside and be able to get around to take a comfortable third place. With the race on the last lap Randy would again have closed the gap on Brain but take the outside on the split loosing time and having no chance at a last min pass for the lead. The second main would have Brian slowly start to pull away as the race went on. James P. would pass John R. at the finish line with a better drive but would get passed back one lap later going into the second one eighty. John would turn the fastest lap time with a 20.2 a full two tenths faster then the rest of the field. Chase would also be tuning fast laps and catch up to Randy. With a failed attempt at a pass going into the second one eighty with three laps to go would lose ground that he made up and have no time to make it back up. Ending with Brian in first Randy in second and Chase in third.

The A main would see the randomizer set the fastest qualifier Jace H. on the pole and our top two in points Jeremy W. and Michael M. seventh and eighth. This would mix things up a bit and allow anything to happen. There would be a clean start and drive single file for about 4 laps. Then Jeremy and Michael would start trying to make their move. Jeremy would have the drive around the finish to pass Jacob U. and allow Michael to follow through on the inside. They would catch up to Matt A. and Jeremy would again show a wheel at the finish but this time not able to make the pass. At about the halfway point the field would start to spread except Jace H. and Philip R. in the front. There would be cart distance between them for the next two laps before Philip would catch Jace. Jace would start to Drive slightly defensive and allow Scott R to close the gap. Only five laps remaining it would be a battle for the top three. Scott would get around Philip quickly and set his eye on Jace. Scott would be looking for any way around. Coming around for the last lap Jace would drive extremely defensive making sure not to make any mistake. Jace would leave a slight opening coming into the last corner and Scott would make a push pulling up to the side of Jace but not be able to get the pass before crossing the finish. Jace would take the win with Scott right behind in second and Philip in third. Going into the second main would see a clean start. Michael M. who started in last the first main would be in fifth hoping to catch two very strong front-runners although they would prove to be strong and with in the first few laps would start to sneak away. Philip would feel the pressure and Matt A. to get to the inside going into the second one-eighty then going outside across the finish allowing Michael and Jeremy to make the pass on the inside. Michael would see the front-runners pulling away and see the urgency to make the pass on Matt and close the gap before it was to late. Michael tried to make a tough pass going into the first one-eighty Matt would shut the door and trying to avoid taking him out Michael slid and wedges himself into the barriers dropping back into last. We would see everyone pretty spread out after this with Michael making a last lap pass for a few needed points for the overall standings. Jace would go one-one after pulling away from Scott who had a big lead on third place Jeremy who started in Eighth for the second main.

There would be a clean sweep in all classes seeing Jace, Brian, and Derek all going one-one in there respected main events. This would make it the first time anyone has swept the A main. After missing last week Jace will drop that round in the overall points needing the sweep to make up those points. If the consistent driving keeps up it could lead him to a three-peat in leagues. Make sure to come to leagues Wednesday nights and see if you have what it takes to claim a win!

This week in leagues would have a good turn out of new drivers that were all looking to get a feel for the win. There would also be a little talk from racers about switching up the starting grid from random to qualifying time. But after a little more explanation we would stick with random grid leaving the drivers mixed up for the start.

C main would start off clean with BJ C. looking to make a early pass on James C however BJ would be blocked and be able to watch James line for a couple more laps learning anywhere he could make up a little time. After a few laps in the books he would be able to hold the finish line a little tighter with a better drive making the pass stick going into the first one eighty. This would allow Philip R. breathing down James neck however Derek B. would be right there as well putting the pressure on Philip. Derek would show Philip a wheel letting him know he was there with six laps to go. On lap five he would be able to sneak on the inside of the split making the pass. Coming into the second one eighty Philip would set up and make the pass back on the inside going over the finish line and two laps remaining. The little battle would allow BJ to get a comfortable lead at the end. Second main would take those gaps away and make it close right off the bat. Philip would have bad luck right off the start as Derek would try to get the jump on the inside and Philip would block but it was to late and got spun out. He would have a great drive coming through the pack to end up fifth. The early mishap would allow BJ to start to creep away having no one to deal with out front. Ryan S would start in fifth coming into the second main event and would be able to make his way to third right behind James as the race was winding down. They would come into the last corner bumper to bumper and would make some contact spinning James out and finishing second. But with the rules came a penalty and Ryan would be docked one position leaving him in third place.

The B Main would see some good racing as well Chase T. week one winner would be lined up on the pole and with a clean start he would be able to run clean fast laps to sneak away from the pack. For the rest of the field it would be a different story with a lot of battles and passing. Jacob U would start out in third place and try to make an early pass on Cody S. in second but be closed off quickly by some smart driving but it wouldn’t last long while he would make the pass on the inside of the finish line one lap later. Another battle would be in full effect at about the half way mark for fifth place and include three drivers. Oscar Z. would the one coming through the pack and quickly close up the gap on Chris D., Toni k., and Dan S. each driver would be trying to find there way around one another thus slowing them down the slightest bit. Oscar would make his way into sixth right behind Chris D in fifth at the checkered flag. The second main would again be a clean start and Tim W a usual A main driver would be looking to make a few passes. Jacob U. would show Chase a wheel coming around the finish line and be two tenths faster for most of the race. Chase would be able to smooth out his laps and hold of Jacob for a one, one finish. Behind that would be a battle for sixth place between Philip S., Tim W., and Toni K. With four laps to go Tim W. would be all over Philip S. and make the move around at the second one eighty on the inside with two laps to go to finish fifth.

The A main would be a clean start and see Randy G make an early pass on Garrett K. on the inside of the finish line. Randy would be able to run Fast laps with the clean track and get an early gap. Greg W. And Jeremy W. would both be randomly gridded at the back and have their work cut out for them. Greg would start clicking away positions by sneaking into the inside on the second one eighty while drivers were still taking the fast line but get blocked on the exit from the quicker entry speed of the inside. Jeremy would be on the tail of Greg through most of this and as the race went on they would slowly knock away at Randy’s lead. The half way mark would start the battle between the top three and every time Greg would show a wheel Randy would have the better drive and be able to hold him off. With about four laps to go a lapper would hold Greg up a little and allow Randy to gap him a little and Jeremy to pull right up on Greg. There would not be enough time left in the race to as they would group back up but finish with Randy First Greg in second and Jeremy in third. The second main would start off with Jeremy trying to get a better jump and make a pass within the first fifty feet. He would be block and allow Scott R. to sneak by until the split were Jeremy would have the inside again. Greg would be putting the pressure on Randy For the First few laps until Jeremy would pass on Greg spinning him out and earning him a black flag. Michael M would be close to Scott R and look for a place to get around but Scott would turn the fastest lap time a 19.901 and be able to hold him off. As the race was coming to the final lap Jeremy would catch Randy and look to make a pass. Randy would think he had it in the bag until the last corner Jeremy took a shot at it taking them both out. This would allow Scott to capitalize and take the win. Randy would be able to salvage a second place still able to end the night with the overall win. Jeremy on the other hand would finish fourth but be docked one position for the take out.

All three main events would all have their share of people getting docked due to last lap take outs this week making each ones final finishes very interesting. Jace Hansen would also not make it this Wednesday and drop him back to seventeenth in points. The overall series points are still a close one with only ten points separating the top three. There are still plenty of races and a lot of points still to be had so anything could happen.

Coming into the last and final round of the Rockstar New Year league we would throw a curve ball into things starting the night out with a R.P.M theft race, the winner would receive an extra 200 R.P.M. During practice and qualifying, the timing display TV’s would be shut off leaving everyone guessing what their times were and what main event they would land in. With a tight battle between the top five in points drivers would be trying anything the could to get those few extra points.

The night started off with the R.P.M race and with some drivers looking to use it to get a little edge on the rest of the competition. It was a tight race up front with the current points leader Jace Hansen getting out to an early lead with Jesse Runkle in a close second and Jeremy Wall ending in third. Jumping right into practice and qualifying after the R.P.M race all TV’s were shut off leaving drivers guessing there times and even some drivers trying to run stop watches on there phones. The D mains had 5 drivers advancing leaving David Spoelhof taking the final transfer position. It was a clean start with only one cart getting spun and pushed to the outside. Dan T would be that driver, he put his head down for a strong drive being two tenths faster then the field while making his way through the pack. There was a great battle in the front between Michael G. Tim V. and Chris T. the three drivers would trade positions making a great race. Tim V would edge out the other driver for the win. Chris T would cross in 2nd and be happy with a transfer and more laps to come in the C main.

Jeremy Wall a usual front runner in the A mains would struggle in qualifying leaving him with a Fourth place start in the c main. The first 180 came quick and with Jeremy W. trying to make quick moves he went to the outside and left Steve B. and Greg G. to get together and cause a first turn pile up. This would work for him and allow him to get into an early and comfortable lead. There would be close racing and few black flags while other drivers were trying for the second transfer spot to the B main. Tim V would make his pass by holding the Finish line turn tight to squeeze by down the front stretch. There would still be a close race for third, the battle resulted in those drivers all to be shut down at some point. This let Tim V secure 2nd and another transfer. He would be the first driver to complete in 3 mains in one night.

With the B main turning out some great racers there would be a clean start leaving, every driver still in the hunt for those two transfer spots into the A main. The halfway make would be the start of all battles at the front and the back of the pack. Tripp G would stick his cart into the inside on the second one 180 and make contact leaving him with a black flag and in a distant seventh. Jesse R would capitalize on all the battles behind him, this let him drive his own line. Jesse ran fast consistent laps which lead him to win the B main. Jeremy W. started in ninth place would make the finish line corner his signature passing spot, passing five drivers on his way to the front. Josh F. and Derek B. would trade positions for the transfer spot. Josh would make an unusual pass going two wide on the inside of the split. Getting a better drive down the back straight he made the pass. It would come down to the wire again with Jeremy making a last lap pass into third leaving him just shy of a transfer into the A main. Josh F. would be the final spot into the A main.

The last race of the night would be the A main and After a couple rough weeks with a lot of contact they would be warned before the race that all intentional contact would earn them a black flag with a long shut down, which could cost them valuable time and positions. The drawing for the invert would start out with Jack K. on the pole followed by Tyler T. The two new drivers to leagues had a veteran Jace H behind them in third. Jace would make fairly quick work of Jack into second and start his push to first. Tyler would hold him off for the first half of the race but would be loosing time by going wider going into the split. Jace wouldn’t only make up time on Tyler with this but make the pass here as well. Jesse R would start in the back and look to charge to the front by turning the fastest laps of the night. He would make most of his passes on the back section of the track and slowly catch up to Jack. When he did, the pass was made with contact allowing Jack to make the pass back while Jesse was being shut down. This battle was slowing them both down and Ryan M. would close the gap as well and make it a three way battle to the end. Jace would take the win followed by Tyler, Jesse, Jack, and Ryan to round out the top five.

With the night and series coming to an end the final points would be tallied. Bob S. the points leader for most of the series would be pushed back to eighth in points. With all the drivers dropping one round it mixed things up. With Dominic U. not showing up for the final round this would also drop him from a championship. The top five in points would end with Jace H. in first, Jeremy W. in second, Chase T in third, Jesse R. in fourth, and Dominic U. in fifth. The top Three Drivers would receive their prizes leaving the rest of the drivers looking to come back March 7th for the start of the Rockstar Spring league for redemption. Jace H. will have a Huge target on his back after winning back to back leagues, leaving only one question to be answered… Will you be the driver to finally knock him of the top step of the podium?

The 4th round of leagues had a record setting turn out of 40 drivers! With a larger number of drivers, some of the racing was a little too aggressive. The track crew gave out the most black flags ever, and a few drivers were talked to afterwards about their aggressive behavior on track. We will be making a few changes to help make cleaner and safer racing for the following leagues.

The E main would hold the bottom 10 drivers, but these were no bottom of the barrel racers. They all had great speed on the track just needed a little more seat time. Four of them would move on to the D main and get to race over 55 laps when leagues were done. Dan T would hold pole position and use the clear track to his advantage. Running smooth constant laps, his average lap time was under 20 seconds. He would win the E main. Scott Rhoads chances of moving on to the next main would be crushed due to a flat tire on the first couple of laps. Derek B was running 3rd place and with 7 laps to go he went to dive inside on the first 180. He stuck the front end into the barriers; this pushed him back to 6th and out of transferring position. With only 3 laps to go, there was a good battle for 2nd and 3rd between Mike D and Dan S. Dan S would not be able to make it around Mike D but he did make 5 passes which was enough pass to win the “passing champ” award. The battle that really mattered was for 4th between Toni K and Chris S. Chris S would hold off Toni K for the 4th and the final transfer spot. Tough break for Toni K, but with only a few drivers under his belt 5th is still a respectable finish and he will be able to build from this.

The D main would be full of aggression and black flags. On the first lap alone there were 3 black flags given to; Mike J, Dan S and Andrew B., along with a crash before the split. Shawn N grabbed the lead back from Mike J when Mike was shut down for his black flag. Dan T made his way around the mayhem the first lap and found himself a spot in the top 5 after a nice pass on Mark A as he tucked under him on the start finish line straight. Mike J would make the same move on Shawn N to take the lead back. Shawn N wanted to make sure he wasn’t on the bubble for the transfer spot so he dove inside of the last 180 and but was unable to make the pass. Later the 180 would clam another victim, as Shawn N would get stuck and loose his chance to transfer. Andrew B and Mike D would get together before the spilt with 7 laps to go. Both were black flagged for the crash and contact they made with the drivers after the crash. Shawnee, Dan T and Mark A would have a little to no gap between them with 3 laps to go. There was only .05 seconds between the drivers going for 2nd. If Dan T could make the pass for 2nd. He would be the first driver ever to transfer out of 2 different mains in one night. Shawnee was showing great line choice, which made the chance for a pass from either driver behind him tough. He would hold tight coming across the finish and hold onto 2nd and the last ticket to the C main. The battle between Mark A and Shawnee would win the rival of the night award. The battle for 2nd was clean, unlike the rest of the race, which looked like bumper karts at times. All the drivers were talked to about this post race. Mike J would not have to worry about this because he lead was large enough to keep him out of the chaos and black flags as he won the D main.

The C main was loaded with Ryan M in pole position. Ryan M has raced in the A main before and knew that’s were he belonged. Boyd B was in grid 2 and was trying to get around Ryan M before the split. As he push Ryan M wide, Ryan M ran out of real estate, Ryan stuck his kart into the head of the split and was taken out of the hunt for the lead. Beside this accident, the C main was one of the cleanest and best races of the nights. With everyone running a good pace there was little room for mistakes. Another driver would quickly capitalize on any mistake that were made. Bob S made his move like many others had by hanging tight across the finish line as Boyd B swung a little wide. Boyd would sneak under him on the same lap on the last 180. Bob S would be like a broken record and put another pass on Boyd across the inside of the finish line. This time Bob S would make the pass stick and not allow any one else around him for the rest of the race. From 3rd place to 6th place there was less then a second and a half with Boyd B just a little ahead of them in 2nd. The group would run down Boyd and make it a 5-way battle for 2nd. All the drivers would keep the race clean and stay in the same position besides Michael G would make a pass for a 4th place finish. Michael has show great improvement in his short time in leagues and shows he can run with some of the best. With your pole position being taken out early your grid 2, and 3; Bob S and Boyd B would be moving on the to B main which was loaded with the drivers who qualified 9th to 16th.

The B main wouldn’t be as clean of racing as we had seen the C main. Driver’s tempers would flair and aggressive driving would soon follow. With almost every driver getting a black flag, the field would all hope to have a clearer race next time. The race started with Jesse R up front until James M would use the common passing area, which was inside tight along the finish line. Tina was making a charge from a 4th place start and used the almost signature spot before the split to pass drivers back to back putting her up into 2nd. She would try to make the pass for the lead by diving inside on the last 180 but making mostly contact she wouldn’t make the pass and be black-flagged for it. James M in 1st would look back a couple times to check where Tina was. Feeling the pressure he would try to hold a defensive line until Tina final broke inside early before the finish line. Contact was made as Tina went for the spot. James M was trying to hold her off. Both drivers were flagged and shown the “no contact” sign. This allowed Jesse R to put his nose in the business. Jesse would make the pass on for 2nd on James. With the top 4 almost in a race of there own, the rest of the field was stuck together. They were packed closely to each other, and each mistake seemed to cause contact and end with one or more drivers black-flagged. With more then 5 drivers this close it caused drivers to become frustrated with the amount of contact. With no driver being able to drive the line they wanted it left all the drivers pointing the finger at one another for too much contact. We have made some changes to help the race be cleaner and more like a race next time. The back of the pack was not the only part of the races where driver’s heads were not clear. At the front on the last lap James M punted Jesse R out of the before the split. This move would have resulted in him being docked a position giving Jesse R a transfer; this was until Jesse would T-bone Will O in the last 180. Will would then retaliate. With all 3 drivers losing there cool and making poor racing choices on the last lap James M would transfer on. This was a learning main not only for the drivers but also for the staff at Unser racing.

The A main would be filled with the top 8 drivers. The 9 place driver and pole position for the B main, Jesse R missed the A main by .001 of a second. Dominic U would hold the 8th grid position and still was a threat to win that far back. He would have misfortune early in the race with kart problems. After coming in to switch karts he unable to make a come back and later pulled off. The normally clean racer Jace H would be black flagged first lap. This would let Kirill get close enough to make the textbook inside pass across the finish line. Tina pushed Chase T who hasn’t been able to not show his true speed in the mains wide. After running out of room he got stuck in the head of the split again not being able to score a top 5 finish. If Chase can keep his kart moving the whole race he has the speed to win, round 5, this is his last chance until next league. Jereme W would be the first driver to record a 19 second lap. A little later on the race the top 4 would be all in the 19’s. The record was going to be broken and was numerous times. Jereme W would end the race with ffthe 19’s, he ran 19’s 20% of his laps. This would put Kirill up front to content for the lead. We would have 2 lead changes on lap 28. Jereme Wall would pull inside of Greg before the split. Greg would have none of it and passed him right back on the next 180. The top 4 were within in a second of each other. Kirill, wanting to put the 17 kart up on the podium, would try to make the pass where he did before across the finish line. Jace H knew he had to gain as many points as possible and was able to shut him down each time. Greg would cross the line 1st and become the 4th and another new driver to win at the RockStar New Year league at Unser. Jereme W would finish 3rd after being passed late in the race by Jace H, this would match his best finish in leagues. Jace H currently in 1st in points would score 59 points for 2nd, putting him that much closer to winning back to back league championships.

A night of what could be described as “intense racing” was finished. The points had tightened up. With one more round until the 2nd champion would be crowned, there is still a lot up in the air. One thing not up in the air is the fact that leagues will be given a face lift to ensure clearer, more fun, and exciting racing. Make sure to come out early on the 5th round to par take in the unique racing formats starting at 5:30 next Wednesday!

With the only two rounds down and the points super tight, we had another great driver showing on February 1st for the 3rd round of the Rockstar New Year League at Unser Racing. With the original qualifying system back in place, there would be a 4-minute practice followed by 4-minute qualifying. The top 9 fastest drivers would be seated into the A main, and there would be an additional 3 mains for the other 21 drivers to compete in.

With 4 spots left in the C main, there would only be 2 drivers not transferring out of the D main. Brian C. would hold pole position for this race. This was his lowest qualifying position ever in leagues. When a smooth fast driver gets a clean track in front of them, they can be tough to beat as we have seen in the past. And that’s exactly what Brian C did. He gapped a lead from the first lap and lead from start to finish. This main was not just a one-man show, however. With 3 spots left there would be a heated battle between 2 drivers and with 10 laps to go another driver would join the battle. Brian M, and Dan T. started the race out next to each other and couldn’t seem to separate for the battle for 2nd. Michael G qualified in 30th position but showed that he knew how to race. Dan T was trying to make the pass in the last hair pin turn on Brian M during the first half of the race. Michael G was picking off drivers and closing the gap on them. With 8 laps to go Dan T’s heavy pressure on Brian M would pay off as he finally got by him across the finish line. On the same lap Michael G snuck by pushing Brian M back to 4th. With two laps to go, Michael G showed he had one more trick in his bag as he pulled to the inside of the split forcing Dan T to the outside. Michael G came out of the split first and clamed 2nd place. Even though Michael made it around Dan T and Brian M, they were awarded the rivalry award for their close racing and battle for 2nd for most of the race. Dan T would hold down 3rd when it was all finished.

Tripp G would be in pole position for the C main followed by 9 other drivers all fighting for 1 transfer spot to the B main. The start of the C main was not clean; this let Tripp G put almost 2 seconds between him and 2nd on the first lap. The race was red flagged because of timing transponder issues on one of the karts. The drivers were re-gridded in qualifying order and another stopped start would take place. The restart was clean. Tripp G would have no problem opening up a 3 second lead, 3 laps into the 20-lap race. The “no contact” sign would be shown to most of the field 6 laps into the race. Dan T, Brian C, and Shawn N would later be black flagged for contact. The black flag that Shawn N received hurt his chances of closing the gap on the leaders. Shawn N was slightly faster then Tripp G and Tyson W in front of him, yet Shawn N would never be able to make a pass attempt for the lead. Shawn would finish 3rd and Tyson G 2nd.

The B main was one to watch tonight. The point’s leader Bob S was sitting in 2nd grid position. With a past league night winner Jesse R sitting in 3rd grid. Andrew B would be the first kart to pull up to the starting line in the B main with a qualifying time of 20.372. Bob S held a tight line coming across the finish line, which seemed to be faster and this is where he would try to make the pass for the lead on Andrew B. Unable to make the pass, Andrew B and Bob S tied each other up letting Jesse R pull up on them. Jesse R would dive under Bob S on the final corner taking over 2nd place. With 19 laps to go the 4th place driver Jon R was holding the fast lap time. Scott R spun out Derek B while the 2 were battling for 5th place. From 4th place to 1st place the gap was 1 sec with 15 laps to go. Andrew B started driving a defensive line with hope to hold the lead down. Jesse R would use his patience and racing background to wait for a clean opportunity to make the pass. Jesse R has been known to receive a few black flags during leagues, but this pass was clean and on the last corner before the finish line. With Jesse R out front Bob S and Tripp G were still looking for away around Andrew B. Tripp G had made a strong charge from 10th to 3rd. Tripp G was on his way to winning the most passes award until he took himself and Andrew B out before the split. Andrew B who had pole position and a great chance at winning was taking out with just a few laps left. This was a tough break for Andrew B who later would finish 10th, this might be the round he drops in points but won’t soon forget. Jesse would cross first; Bob S in 2nd and Ryan G would be gifted 3rd from the accident with Andrew B and his brother Tripp G.

Greg W posted the fasted qualifying time with a 20.034. Since he drew a 5 for the invert he would start in the 5th grid position. This gave a new driver to leagues Tyler E pole position. He pulled to the finish line for the start a little wider then most others, this gave the drivers at the back a great chance to dive inside on the start and maybe come out of the start in the top 5. Jereme W who later had the fast lap time would be taken out down the first straight away on the start. Just a couple of laps in and the front 5 were tight and only half a second apart. Greg W was trying to make his pass on Tyler E. He set up inside of him coming into the last 180, but Tyler E was able to hold his line in the last corner and keep Greg W from passing. Greg W would attempt the same pass the next time but this time he was able to tuck under Tyler E in the last corner and make the pass. Tyler E showed great speed for little time on the track and might be able to score a win before the leagues were over. With 20 laps to go the top 4, Jace H, Tina R, Greg W, and Dominic U’s lap times were all 20 seconds flat. Greg was averaging a tenth of a second faster then the 2 drivers in front of him. Closing up on the leaders wouldn’t be the problem for Greg W, but lappers would be. As he went to make a pass around a lapper they spun out leaving nowhere for him to go but into him. He would get unstuck from the lapper but not until Dominic U went past him. The race was coming up on the finish and Tina R could not find away around Jace H. The battle for 5th was going to go to the finish line where Jesse R would tuck inside Cory M. Cory M would try and shut the door but it was a little to late as Jesse R was along side of him. Cory M crossed in 5th and Jesse R in 6th but later Cory M would be docked 1 position for his contact across the finish. Greg W wouldn’t be able to pass Dominic U back and Greg W would finish 4th. Jace H did what he needed to from the start to the finish and won the 3rd round.

Feels like the movie “Groundhog Day”. Another 3 rounds down and a new winner every round just like the winter league. The points have tightened up and we are unsure how they will play out because everyone will have to drop one round of points. Bob S leaves with a 7-point lead after 3 rounds.
